단순과거시제 - 이미 지난 일을 말하고 싶다

 

과거시제는 과거에 있었던 일을 말할 때 씁니다.

역사적 사실은 과거에 있었던 일이기 때문에 당연히 과거형으로 표현합니다.

다큐멘터리에서 현장감을 주려고 현재형으로 말할 때가 있는데 이 경우 영어만의 특별한 규칙이 아닙니다.

시제의 부수적인 쓰임을 외우기보다 개념적으로 이해하면 훨씬 자연스럽게 익힐 수 있습니다.

 

보통 "동사원형 +ed" 로 표현하고 "~했다" 라고 해석합니다.

의외로 ~했었다 라고 잘못해석 하는 사람들이 많습니다.

불규칙 동사의 경우는 외워야 하는데 뒤에 나올 설명을 이해한 후 외우시길  바랍니다. 

 

I worked hard yesterday.

나 어제 열심히 일했어 

What happened? You usually don't work hard.

무슨일 있었어? 너 보통은 열심히 일하지 않잖아 

I had lots of things to do.

할 일이 아주 많았거든

I hope you will have a nice weekend.

너 정말 좋은 주말 보내면 좋겠다.

동사의 과거형은 규칙동사와 불규칙 동사가 있습니다.

규칙동사의 경우 '- ed' 를 붙이거나 e가 있으 경우 '-d' 만 붙여서 표현합니다.

그러나 불규칙 동사는 각가의 형태가 다르므로 외워야 합니다.

과거의 습관적 행위로는 현재는 더 이상 하지 않는다 는 뜻이 들어 있는 표현이므로

과거시제는 절대 "~했었다 " 로 해석하지 말고 반드시 "~했다" 로 해석하길 바랍니다.
